How to Spot Fake Debt Collector Extortion
Summary — +12813975166
Expert Opinion
Stay vigilant when anyone threatens legal action over a debt you never incurred. Verify the claim by contacting the alleged creditor directly using official contact details, not the number that called you. Never send money or personal information to an unsolicited caller, especially if they demand payment to avoid arrest. Report the call to the FTC and your state’s consumer protection agency, and consider filing a police report for extortion. Keep a log of call times, numbers, and exact wording to aid authorities. If the caller claims to represent a rent‑to‑own firm, request written proof of the contract and any recorded video evidence before taking any steps.
