Expert Opinion
Ever wonder why that number keeps popping up on your caller ID? It’s likely a high‑volume debt‑collection operation targeting overdue credit‑card balances, often using automated scripts and aggressive follow‑ups. These calls usually originate from third‑party agencies that purchase small debts and then dial repeatedly, sometimes multiple times a day, to pressure payment. If you’re certain the debt is inaccurate or already settled, request a written validation and consider filing a complaint with the FTC or your state’s consumer protection office. Meanwhile, let the calls go to voicemail and avoid sharing any banking details over the phone.
