Who’s Behind the $399 Antivirus Scam?

Similar calls have been received from the Douglas area, all containing scam-like content.

I was quoted a lower price of $249.99, but suspected a scam due to the unusual company name and the fact that my only subscription is to Malwarbytes, which costs less; I believe this could be a trap that charges you when you call back.

I received a call asking me to contact another number, which appears to be a scam aimed at obtaining sensitive information.

I recently received the same message, and I am grateful for this platform. Previously, I had received a scam claiming that $79 had been charged to my Amazon account, which was frustrating.

I recieved a message on my answering machine from a scammer, saying i have to contact them or i will be charged, its a total scam.

Similar to other experiences, this call threatened additional charges if a different number was not contacted, with an alleged connection to Weimer, TX and another specified phone number.

These calls are deeply resented as they often target vulnerable individuals, such as the elderly, who can least afford to be taken advantage of. It is appalling that they use fear tactics to achieve their goals

A caller from 'vtech solutions' asked us to call them back within 48 hrs or our 'account' would be charged $399 to renew a subscription, definatly a scam.

A caller from Tech Solutions claimed that my account would be charged $399 and requested a callback within 48 hours to 307-298-3808.

Following two calls from an individual claiming to be David Thompson, I categorically stated that any attempted charges from VTech would be met with legal action. I refused to provide any information or access my computer. The caller declined to connect me with their supervisor, leading me to terminate the call. This is clearly a scam.

Following the pattern of others, a robo call was received from 307-298-3951 claiming an account would be charged if not returned within 48 hours; upon calling back, the line rang and then disconnected, revealing a scam

My parents also received the same message from 'David Thompson' regarding a $399 charge from VTech, but attempts to call back were unsuccessful, and I'm glad I checked here for more information.
