Is This Warranty Scam Trying to Record You?

Expert Opinion
Recent patterns show a surge of automated calls masquerading as warranty or service reps, often using phrases like “Can you hear me alright?” to prompt a verbal response. These recordings can be exploited for identity verification or spam lists. If you receive such a call, let it go to voicemail, avoid confirming any details, and consider blocking the number. Report persistent attempts to your carrier and to the FTC’s complaint portal. Regularly review your call‑blocking settings and stay wary of unsolicited offers claiming refunds, loan forgiveness, or vacation packages—legitimate agencies rarely contact you without prior notice.
