Expert Opinion
Like a stranger tapping on your door, a call from +14082143434 often pretends to be an employment verification request. The pattern in the comments shows a mix of legitimate verification firms and questionable callers using broken English and aggressive data requests. If you receive such a call, don’t share personal details—especially SSN, DOB, or address—until you’ve independently confirmed the company’s identity. Hang up, look up the business on official sites, and call back using a known number rather than the one provided. Treat any unexpected verification request with healthy skepticism and document the call for future reference.

Despite the caller's claim of needing to verify my employment, I'm skeptical since I haven't applied for any new positions and have been with my current company for years.
Apparently, this is an employment verification service operated by Verifications Inc., which has since merged with another company. My suspicion grew when I received calls from out-of-area numbers. After conducting some research, I discovered that the callback number was associated with Verifications Inc. as far back as 2014. Given my familiarity with their employment verification process, I think a simple SSN search would be a more effective way to verify someone's work history. Personally, that's what I would do.
