Robocall Scam Targets Credit Card Rates!
Summary — +14085872139
Expert Opinion
The pattern points to a classic robocall scam pushing bogus rate‑reduction offers for credit cards or car warranties. Callers repeatedly ask you to press a key to speak with a live person, then demand personal financial info – a clear red flag. Hang up immediately, block the number, and register the nuisance with the FTC’s Do Not Call portal. Keep a log of timestamps and any recorded prompts; this helps when disputing unauthorized charges with your bank. If a genuine lender needs to contact you, they’ll use verified channels, not surprise calls from unknown IDs.

I recieved a call with a congratulatory message about qualifying for a reduced rate, and was prompted to press 2 to speak with a live representitive. I've been getting these types of calls regularly for months from various caller IDs. Initially, I engaged with one of these calls to request removal from their list, citing my enrollment in the national do not call registry; however, it didnt matter, as they ushally hung up when I mentioned it. Some of the callers had an [East] Indian accent, while others, like the one two weeks ago, had a normal American accent and threatened me with legal consequences if I didnt comply, which seemed quite rude. They claimed to represent my bank, but I knew it was bogus and told them I would contact my bank's customer service directly. As reported by Herb Weisbaum, a consumer protection expert on MSNBC, these scammers are difficult to track down due to their use of spoofed phone numbers and international origins, includin Canada and India.
