The caller ID displayed a Pennsylvania number, but the call was a robocall that transferred to a human claiming to be from the Medical Alert Department, which is likely another scam.

Expert Opinion
Sounds like a typical medical‑alert pitch that pops up out of the blue, then quickly drops the script. Callers often claim to represent a local alert service, ask about device ownership, and throw vague references to Medicare or pain relief to sound credible. If you didn’t request the call, hang up and block the number. Never share personal health details with unsolicited callers, and report persistent callers to the FTC or your state’s consumer protection agency. You can also add the number to the National Do Not Call Registry to reduce future hits.
