Scam callers demanding money—how to protect yourself!

Expert Opinion
Keep records of every call—date, time, what was said, and the caller ID—so you have evidence if you need to report the harassment. Never share personal data like Social Security numbers, bank details, or passwords with unsolicited callers, even if they claim legal authority. If the caller refuses to provide verifiable name, company, or a written request, hang up and block the number. Report the number to the FTC, your state’s consumer protection office, and the FCC’s robocall complaint portal. Consider placing a call‑blocking app on your phone and request a “Do Not Call” list registration. When in doubt, consult a trusted attorney before taking any action.
