Expert Opinion
Recent patterns show callers using vague account escalation threats to prompt callbacks, often switching between male and female voices and refusing identification. This tactic exploits urgency and confusion, making it easy to harvest personal data or incur fees. Never return the call unless you can verify the organization through official channels. Use call‑blocking tools, report the number to the FTC, and educate household members about these phishing‑by‑phone schemes. Keep a log of timestamps and any recorded messages to aid investigations.
