Somebody gotta keep the scammers in bussiness, might as well be them
Scott McGillivray Seminar Calls: How to Protect Yourself
Summary — +15028713347
Expert Opinion
Skip the free‑ticket lure, because these calls are a high‑pressure telemarketing scheme targeting real‑estate investors. Callers claim you’ve won free tickets or a complimentary tablet if you attend a real estate seminar, then pressure you into paying steep course fees. Never share personal or financial details with unknown callers, and always verify a company’s legitimacy before committing. Register your number on the Do Not Call list, use call‑blocking tools, and hang up if the pitch feels rushed or vague. Report persistent offenders to the FTC or your state consumer protection agency, and share your experience to warn others.

Attending the seminar proved to be worthwhile, with valuable tips provided free of charge, which I found particularly useful as a property owner.
Upon receiving two free tickets for a "Real Estate Pre-Auction" signed by Scott McGillivray, I am questioning the legitimacy of this offer
A scammer, claiming to be Scott, promotes a real estate business with promises of wealth, inviting people to free seminars that ultimately push expensive programs.
Received a call from someone claiming to be Scott McGillivray from an HGTV investment company, speaking rapidly and using assumptive language, indicating a potential scam
Despite being on the Do Not Call list, this number continues to call, with a recent message stating they are from Fortune Builders, which is frustrating and intrusive
Following a barrage of calls, I investigated this number and discovered it was associated with a suspicious offer, prompting me to request removal from their list, citing my presence on the Do Not Call registry
This evening, somebody from HGTV's Income Property supposedly called me, claiming Scott McGillivray is in my area, they was giving me 2 free tickets, but I dont think its legit
This number consistently calls without leaving any messages.
A collection call was made to my number, but the representative struggled to communicate in plain English, prompting me to inform them they had dialed the wrong number; it's disappointing that companies don't ensure their staff can converse effectively in English
I just looked up the owner online, his name is Scott McIlroy, he owns Global Collections, they are debt collectors and by law can only talk to the actual debitor, the best thing to do is block their numbers like i did
Because i wouldnt answer the phone, i got a snail mail from Scott McGillivary inviting me to attend a "Private, Pre-Auction Real Estate Event" in my local area. Im RETIRED, LIVING ON A VERY STRICT BUDGET, AND NOT INTERESTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! McGillivary is the host of HGTV's "Income Property". I enter sweepstakes operated by HGTV, and i believe thats where McGillivary got my email and snailmail addresses......I wont be entering any contests etc. provided by HGTV if they dont provide security for my personal info. The caller I.D. information provided was "Kentucky", the # 502-871-3347. Since i have an unpublished number and have been on the "do not call list" for quite some time(that works well too, right), i expect them not to call me in the future. I have also "opted out" of mass marketing mailings (apparently that doesnt work either). In the future, i will gather all unrequested mailings in a large cardboard box for a year.......then i will count the # of envelopes from each company .........then i will mail that box of envelopes etc. to the winning company. That seems fair to me ! KEEP IN MIND THAT THE FOLLOWING COMPANIES ARE SPONSORING THIS EVENT .....CHASE, BANK OF AMERICA, CITIBANK, THE INSIDERS EDGE AND SUCCEED. MAYBE WE ALL SHOULD SEND THEM AN INVITATION TO STOP SENDING US MASS MAILINGS!
I recieved the same call as TOOBUSY, I asked if I can take a mesage, he wanted to hang up quickly so I told him dont cal back, he didnt want to be told to remove our name from ther list
Should they call again, I advise against leaving a message or calling before 8:00 AM, as I will take action in response.
The caller, allegedly Scott McGillrey, offered a 'free seminar', which I suspected was actually a telemarketing ploy, especially since they were secretive about details unless I provided personal information.
I called them back three times, each time I got a diferent greeting, they spoke very quickly and it was hard to understand what they were saying, I think thats what they intended
I'm having the same experiance, wish we could figure out the companys name behid this number
This number keep calling me, but they never leave a message
