Expert Opinion
Weekend calls keep resurfacing, with strangers claiming legal papers and a need for signatures. Many victims report a scripted script that mentions a certified envelope, a case number, and a callback number that leads to a dead end. This pattern matches the classic fake process server or legal‑support scam that circulates across multiple states. To protect yourself, let the call go to voicemail, block the number, and file a complaint with the FTC or your state consumer protection agency. Never provide personal data or pay fees, and consider using a reputable call‑blocking app to reduce repeat attempts.
