Calls to my landline come from various numbers that scammers rotate throughout the day. On one occasion I answered without greeting, and they immediately hung up when I stayed silent. Another time I had to end the call because of loud breathing from the other side.
Silent Hang‑Ups: Is a Survey Behind That Call?
Summary — +15873320012
Expert Opinion
Block any silent hang‑up calls immediately to protect your privacy. When you receive a call that goes dead on entry, let it ring once and then hang up; avoid engaging with any automated prompts. Use your phone’s built‑in spam filter or a third‑party app to flag the number, especially if it repeatedly shows up as a survey source. Log the timestamp and any caller ID clues, then report the pattern to your carrier or a consumer protection agency. Regularly update your voicemail greeting to discourage callers from leaving vague messages, and consider registering your number on the national Do‑Not‑Call list to reduce robocall volume.
