International Credit Recovery scams: What to watch for!

On February 28, 2008, ICR contacted us, claiming that our boss had authorized them to communicate with our accounts payable department. I requested a signed document confirming this authorization, which they were unable to provide. The caller stated that the authorization had been given in 2007, but they had no documentation to support this claim. The situation seemed suspicious, and I warned our boss and accounts payable department about the caller, advising them to be cautious and verify the information.

Tiffany Jones called, stating we were late on a subscription payment to Progressive Business Publications for their Accounts Payable publication, despite our previous refusals to buy from them and their sends of unsolicited invoices. We've ignored these calls, knowing we don't owe anything, and have since found out it's a scam.

Laurie Appleton attempted to collect a debt from our company for a newsletter subscription, but I disputed the claim, explaining that we never ordered such a service.

A call from Lori Appleton threatened to put the recipient's business into collections if an alleged debt was not paid, but an investigation revealed discrepancies in the claimed amount.

A representative from International Credit Recovery, claiming to be Cathy, contacted me about a supposedly delinquent payment, which appears to be a scam.

A lady named Cathy called me, she claimed to be the manager of International Credit Recovery, she said our company was delinquent on a payment, i explaine that we never recieve the magazine and didnt agree to the terms, i beleive this is a bogus company.

A message was left indicating that the caller was from a collection agency, stating that my company had an outstanding debt of $94.00 and offering an opportunity to settle before further action was taken.

Upon recieving the allegations, wich resembled those in other posts concerning ICR, I notice they had my birthdate as supposd evidence that I confirmed the subscription. They were extreemly rude, interupting often, and refused to disclose any information about the vendor who had supposedly been sending us invoices all along. They claimed the vendor had fulfilled their obligation by sending the invoices to the correct adress, despite me stating that I have not recieved the publication or the invoice and would have cancelled any such subscription. Our records of offer cancellations are meticulus, and there was nothing in my file, to which she retorted that "how could I have cancelled if I had nothing in my file?" This turn of events was quite alarmning. I am attempting to gather enough information to report the company to the Attny. General.

A voice mail message from 'Tiffany Jones' of ICR company was received, stating an unpaid invoice that needed to be paid to avoid credit rating damage. However, the return call number provided seemed suspicious, and further investigation revealed tactics similar to those reported by others, confirming this as a scam.

Our non-profit experienced a similar scam, falsely claiming a legally binding subscription; consulting an attorney revealed this to be untrue.

A similar scam call was received from someone claiming to be Kelly Fountain, demanding payment for an unsolicited subscription and attempting to intimidate me with false information

I recieve a similiar call from icr of new york, they claim that my ap accounting assistant have order a one year subscription to an accounting publication for 299 dollar, i have done buisness with progressive buisness pub in the past and some of their stuff is exellent.

This company tried to scam me by claiming they had proof of my subscription due to knowing my birth date, but I requested an invoice, which they failed to provide, and they keep calling

A woman named Jamie from International Credit Recovery contacted me about an alleged past due debt of $306.72 to Progressive Publishing, claiming I authorized a subscription because I provided my birthdate, which she argued made me responsible for the debt.

I was targeted with the same scam, where they claimed knowledge of my birthdate as proof of a subscription.

They tried to collect payment for a fictional publication, which in my opinion is a dishonest practice

A claim was made that a debt was owed for an unordered publication, with the call being made to a business line.
