That startling scenario is a classic scam and extortion designed to prey on fear and confusion. Callers use official‑sounding language, claim legal action, and pressure you to pay immediately. Never return the call, never provide personal or banking details, and don’t click any links they send. Hang up, block the number, and report the incident to the FTC or your local consumer‑protection agency. Keep records of the call in case you need to file a complaint, and remind friends that the CRA will never demand money over the phone.

Fortunatly, I was aware of the situation and knew I was doing everything right, so after talking to the person, I immediatly contacted the autorities and they confirmed it was a scam, dont bother ansering their calls!
Fortunately, I avoided falling victim to the scam by not providing the requested $2600; the individual, claiming to be Kevin Watson from the CRA, attempted to deceive me into paying immediately, but their methods were suspicious and not in line with official CRA protocols.
I finaly got the message and i hope those scammers get cought, its pretty crummy that they prey on inocent peoples

I recieved a call from this number, they told me i owed 45,000 dollars and that i would go to jail if i didnt pay, i told them i was going to call the police and they asked me to wait.
