Medicare card scam alert – what to watch for!

Expert Opinion
Picture this: your phone rings and a voice says they’re from Medicare, ready to send you a new card with red, white and blue stripes. They already know your name and address and ask you to confirm your Medicare number. That script matches a classic scam aimed at harvesting personal data. The safest move is to hang up, never share numbers or passwords, and block the caller. Verify any genuine Medicare communication by logging into the official website or calling the official 800‑number you find there. Report the number to the FTC and consider a call‑blocking app for future protection.

A person claiming to be from Medicare called, knowing my name and adress, but wanting to verify my Medicare number, which I was uncomfortable doing.
Upon answering, I was met with a suspicious caller who claimed to have my personal details, including name and address, and attempted to convince me to confirm my address to receive a new medical card with distinctive red, white, and blue stripes, all while background noises suggested someone was typing, prompting me to terminate the call.
This is obviously a scam, wanted to verify medicare card informations
Their tactic involves searching for active phone numbers.
