Expert Opinion

Late last night, dozens of consumers reported a call from 703‑674‑5500 that claimed their debit card was locked. The pattern matches a classic vishing scheme where scammers spoof a legitimate name—often SteelCloud or a bank—to harvest personal data. Never press 1 or share card numbers, even if the message sounds urgent. Hang up, block the number on your phone, and file a complaint with the FTC’s Do Not Call Registry and your bank. Keep a log of the call details and share it with local law‑enforcement if you suspect identity theft. Staying skeptical and acting quickly are your best defenses.
