Expert Opinion
Around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, a series of calls from +17048174047 began popping up on multiple phones. Callers repeatedly ask for a specific name—often "Donald," "Melvin," or a veteran‑related contact—then launch a rehearsed pitch about fundraising for disabled veterans or other charities. The brief silences, immediate hang‑ups, and generic "Fundraising Center" greeting point to a charity‑scam operation using VOIP services to mask its origin. Hang up promptly, avoid engaging, and consider blocking the number. Report the number to your carrier and to the FTC’s spam‑call database to help curb future abuse.
