Global Tel Link inmate calls – what to watch for!
Summary — +17139810098
Expert Opinion
Earlier this week, several people shared experiences with automated calls that display the +1‑713‑981‑0098 number and claim to be from a prison or jail. These calls are routed through Global Tel Link, a legitimate service that lets inmates place collect calls, but scammers often hijack the system to demand prepaid fees or credit‑card info. Never enter personal payment details before confirming the inmate’s identity. Hang up if the recording asks you to press numbers to add credit, and consider blocking the number through your carrier or a call‑filtering app. Report persistent abuse to the Federal Trade Commission and, when possible, to the correctional facility that the call purports to represent.
