A womens caller claimed to be "Jessica Smith" and was calling about my Federal Student Loans and some recent changes she needed to discus. They asked me to call back at 866-304-9669 and gave a reference number to use when calling back: 099902. Totaly a scam. I've never had a student loan, federal or otherwise.

Expert Opinion
Bottom line: these calls are almost certainly scams. Callers use borrowed names like Julia Hartman or Jessica Smith and claim urgent debt or student‑loan issues to pressure you into returning a call. Never share personal information or payment details with an unknown number. Hang up, block the number, and let your official lender or creditor verify any alleged issues through a known contact method. Use your phone’s call‑blocking features or a third‑party app, and report the number to the FTC or your state consumer protection agency. Staying skeptical and keeping records helps stop the scam cycle.
