Expert Opinion
Watch out—these persistent calls claim to be from National Grid about meter replacements or appointments, but many recipients report they rent, have no account, or never requested service. The pattern of repeated, automated messages fits the unwanted call profile, often using spoofed numbers and vague scripts. If you receive such a call, avoid sharing personal details, ask for a written confirmation, and verify the request by calling the official customer‑service number on your bill. Consider adding the number to your phone’s block list, filing a complaint with the FCC, and reporting possible spoofing to your carrier. Staying vigilant and confirming legitimacy can stop the annoyance and protect your information.

Computer-generated calls from this number are made without looking up the recipient's number, which makes it difficult to return the call. The reason for these calls is to notify gas account holders that their meter needs to be changed due to reaching the 5-7 year mark, a state law requirement in Massachusetts. Although the frequent calls can be annoying, the company's intention is to ensure everyone's safety by obtaining permission from the account holder before making any changes. A better system for scheduling appointments would be beneficial. It's worth noting that the process involves shutting off the gas for about 30 minutes and then relighting the gas appliances.
Domenico here, and I'm constantly receiving calls from this number
