An email, supposedly from Geek Squad, claimed I owed $249 for a renewal and instructed me not to respond via email but to call the provided number instead. Fortunately, I was cautious and searched for information on the number, finding this thread. I've blocked the contact and wanted to warn others about this scam.
Medicare scam calls—how to stop them!
Summary — +17863223425
Expert Opinion
Unexpectedly, dozens of residents receive relentless calls from someone pretending to be Medicare, demanding Social Security or Medicare numbers for bogus pain‑cream or card‑replacement offers. These scam attempts often use heavy foreign accents and claim urgent threats like police involvement to pressure victims. If you get such a call, hang up immediately, never share personal info, and block the number on your phone. Report the incident to the FCC (1‑888‑237‑2362) and to Medicare’s fraud line (1‑800‑633‑4227). Keep a log of call times and share it with local law‑enforcement to help track patterns. Consider enrolling in the National Do Not Call Registry to reduce unwanted outreach.
