When I contacted the entity I beleived was supposted to have my loan, they claimed not to have it, but informed me that Great Lakes does indeed service Department of Education loans. Subsequently, I contacted Great Lakes, expressed my discomfort with sharing certain informations (such as my SSN), and they provided me with the correct educational institution that my loan originated from, as well as the year it was issued. Still, I remain skeptical about their legitimacy, so I requested a copy of my MPN to be sent to my new adress before divulging any further informations about myself (including my maried name). I will post an update once I am certain of their authentisity.
I also recieved a call from them, they said my friend put me as a reference for her school loan and they needed to contact her, this was the callback number they left with option 2 for the adress department, i didnt respond but i know my friend hasnt been paying her bills
Apparently Great Lakes Education is a legit company, they contact you when your student loan is overdue, kinda like a reminder, they try to assist you before sending it to collections, i dont think its wise to ignore them, i made that mistake and now i have a loan with DCS collections wich is alot worse, i regulary work with Great Lakes and they allwas help me

Apparently they didnt claim to be the post office, instead they probaly claimed to be from the "Address Department" of Great Lakes, wich is the dept thats responsable for locateing a borrower, they dont no the diffrence.
The person on the phone claimed to be from the post office, they cald my 70 year old mother saying I refered her to them, they wanted my personal informations, includin adress and phone number.
