Expert Opinion

If a caller with a thick accent tells you they’re from Microsoft and want you to run weird commands, it’s almost always a tech‑support scam. Don’t let them see your screen or hear your password – just hang up. Add the number to your phone’s block list, report it to the FTC (ftc.gov/complaint) and consider a call‑screening app. Scammers often reuse the same script, so if you hear talk about a "virus" or a "Windows error" and they ask you to press Win+R, that’s a red flag. Stay skeptical, keep your computer updates current, and never grant remote access to strangers.
