Merchant Services scam calls – what to watch for!

It's advisable to question the caller about their workplace address, as they may be evasive in their response, indicating potential deceit.

Today, I got a call from Ashley claiming to represent Merchant Services. She mentioned I was paying too much in credit card processing fees and asked if I was getting my statements and if we could review them together. I explained we don't take credit cards, and she disconnected. Complete fraud! I've blocked this number, obviously. Legitimate credit card processors only reach out for chargebacks, so ignore these scam attempts. I always say we don't accept cards, and the call drops.

Wilson from Merchant Services left a message, asking us to return his call regarding a 'refund' of Visa chargers, but when spoken to, he didnt have the necesary details and became defensive, evetually hanging up on me twise, his extention is 604 if you want to have some fun with him.

The caller claimed to be from Merchant Services, stating there were discrepancies with our credit card fees and requested my assistance in correcting them; however, when I informed them I didn't have the necessary paperwork, they became agitated, and I later confirmed with our processing company that this was a scam.

Over the course of 2-3 months, I received multiple messages from someone claiming to be Rebecca, targeting both my business and personal phone numbers. Despite initial skepticism, I decided to send a statement with sensitive information blacked out. However, when I contacted my merchant, they informed me that the provided information was useless. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced a similar situation and if there's a way to determine what they can do with the blacked-out statement.

A message was received from Rebecca at Merchant Service, containing threats consistent with previously reported scams

A man claiming to be Wilson, representing our supposed merchant services provider, contacted the CFO with a suspicious request for merchant account statements to refund excess fees, raising concerns about a potential scam.

During the call, a man claimed there were billing errors on my credit card account, but when I asked for the name of the processor, he refused to provide it, instead stating that he would note the account had been contacted, with Caller ID showing Merchant Services 800-348-1556

Chance Baker, claiming to be from this number, contacted me with extension 607, attempting to scam me with a fake process; his aggression when I hung up was alarming

A call from "Jessica Moss" claiming to be from merchant services asked for a copy of an old statement to reverse an alleged overcharge, which raised suspicions of a scam.

This number continues to be used for a merchant services scam, as evidenced by a recent call; however, I am aware of our actual service provider and recognized the attempt as fraudulent.

My caller ID indicated a call from 469-518-9570, a number associated with Dallas, TX. Similar to previous experiences shared, the caller, a woman, claimed to be from Merchant Services, stating that we were being overcharged by Visa and Mastercard due to not disputing rate hikes.

Somebody call me, saying they are from Member Services, but i dont think so, they just want to scam me.

An experience similar to others involved a call from 'Chrissy' about supposed additional fees on my merchant account from October. The message instructed my secretary to have me return the call at 1-800-348-1566 ext 407. However, upon reviewing my merchant statement, no such fees were found, leading me to suspect a scam or an underhanded tactic by a company seeking to switch my merchant processor.
