Microsoft‑spoofed scam calls: How to stop them!

My computor was hacked by someone pretending to be from Microsoft, they even locked me out.

Whenever my cell phone rings with an unknown number, I instantly block it, as I only communicate through texts with people I know, and fortunately, I'm deaf, which makes it easier for me to ignore such calls.

These scammers falsely claim to be from Microsoft, warning of computer issues and offering to fix them for a hefty fee. In reality, their goal is to obtain credit card information and install malware.

Be cautious of this number, as it is a legitimate Microsoft customer service number but not one they use for outbound calls; it's best to block it.

It's astonishing that this number continues to be used for scamming purposes, raising questions about its legitimacy, especially if it's indeed being used by Microsoft.

The caller ID still displays "Microsoft".

Tonight has been inundated with incessant calls from these individuals, culminating in a call as late as 11:40 PM, forcing me to switch off my phone to avoid further disturbance during the night.

The caller ID on my phone displayed Booker T. Washington Middle School, but the actual caller claimed to be from Microsoft, which raises suspicions about their legitimacy.

After recieving a call from this number, I discovered it's a Microsoft number, and upon further research, I found a multitude of complaints spanning 7 years, which sugjests that it might be wise to monitor credit card statments for any unauthorised charges.

Despite having no connection to the company, the calls persist, prompting the decision to block the number, and it is worth noting that they remain active, indicating potential scamming activities.

The 800 642 7676 call is fraudulent, purportedly from Microsoft, alerting me to a virus on my laptop and requesting that I turn it on for further instructions, spoken in an Indian accent with background noise.

Beware, as this is a scam; if you grant them access to your computer, they will claim to remove a virus for free, only to charge you $200 for a 'warranty', and good luck recovering that money from your credit card company.

When I saw the caller ID displayed "Microsoft", I knew it was a scam, as I do not use their software. I have added the number to my CallBlock list, which now contains over 250 blocked numbers

This is completely fake!

Following an unsolicited call from 800-642-7676, claiming my computer had problems, I was scammed out of over $2000 and my computer was locked until I paid more money, which I refused to do, leading me to discard the computer and purchase a new one; the scammer's greeting of 'dear customer' suggested they were not from America.

It's evident that this is a scam, given that I've received calls from this number twice, despite having no affiliation with Microsoft products.
