Expert Opinion
Ever wonder why a familiar‑sounding number keeps popping up on your screen, claiming to be M&T Bank? Most reports describe a prerecorded reminder or a so‑called debt‑collector asking for your full Social Security number, which is a classic red flag. Hang up immediately, do not share personal info, and add the number to your phone’s block list. Verify any mortgage or account alerts by calling the official number on your statement or the bank’s website. Report the call to the FTC and the Do Not Call Registry, and consider filing a complaint with your carrier if the calls persist.
