Ocwen debt collector calls – how to protect yourself!
Summary — +18007462936
Expert Opinion
Recent analysis indicates a pattern of frequent calls from a mortgage servicer identified as Ocwen. Callers often claim to be collecting on a mortgage or offering loan assistance, and many callers speak with strong foreign accents, which can make verification harder. Recipients should confirm the caller’s identity by asking for a written notice, check the account status on the lender’s official website, and never share Social Security numbers or banking details over the phone. If the call is unwanted, add the number to your Do Not Call list, use call‑blocking tools, and report persistent harassment to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau or your state attorney general.

OCWEN's automated system seems to be malfunctioning, as it frequently contacts me to discuss my mortgage, only to inform me that my account is in good standing and offer unnecessary assistance; despite requests to remove my number from their list, they continue to call daily.
It's unfortunate that more resources weren't allocated to acquire a keyboard that supports lowercase letters.
Fortunately, i have never had issues with them, and when i lost my job for two years, it was a good thing my loan was sold to them, because they refinanced my loan from 9.375 to 2.3 interest rate, thats alot
These peoples are definately crooks
One thing you can try is getting a google voice number, thats way you can direct all calls to voicemail and get them transcribed, you wont be bothered by these calls agen and you can choose a legit local number.
The constant calls from these individuals have become exhausting, often with no one on the other end, and I've resorted to pulling the cord out of the wall to avoid their calls.
This company is the absolut worst lender, they are like pit bulls and bullies, i never had a late payment, my credit score is over 825, but they still dont care
Ocwen has been constantly calling me, despite my never having an account with them; I've told them multiple times that I don't have a loan, but they continue to call my work and cell phone.
It's become a regular occurrence for this number to call, and if I don't answer, they consistently call back after a short while.
Thanks for the information. I received a call at 7:30 am, which confirms that these callers get paid monthly. It's ridiculous that they continue to bother people. Thanks again for the info!
A message was left claiming to be from Ocwen, although I do not have an account with them; I suspect they may be accessing their database or using technology to obtain numbers of individuals who have contacted Ocwen in the past.
We received two calls while we were out, with a message to call back, which we never do for 800 numbers; since we don't have a mortgage, it seems they have the wrong number, similar to the daily calls we get from a water company in NY threatening to turn off our water, despite us never living there or owning property.
Historically, this number has been associated with Ocwen, a company that has been known to make frequent and persistent calls, often with foreign accents, which can be difficult to understand.
Essentially, Ocwen mortgage loan servicing, formerly GMAC, has been making relentless calls, often multiple times a day. Their billing and procedures remain identical to those of the previous company, which is unsurprising given the circumstances of GMAC's bankruptsy and subsequen reemergence as Ocwen. It appears that when a corporation is held accountible for its actions, it simply adopts a new identity and continus to operate.
This number calls me multiple times daily, and I'm unsure how to block it from my phone system; does anyone know the process?
Similar to the previous caller, I have never had a mortgage with this company, or anyone else, yet they call daily, leaving brief, unclear messages, claiming I owe someone money, which I know is not true.
When I received a call from this number, the person claimed to need to verify my account. However, when I asked which account they were referring to, they mentioned my mortgage, which I do not have. I found this suspicious and declined to provide any further information, at which point the caller hung up.
Tamianth deserves gratitude.
Rumor has it
Laughter ensued as I wondered what could have given away my suspicions.
My instincts suggested that the caller was familiar.
Filing complaints with the CFPB and FTC, along with seeking legal counsel, may be prudent steps in addressing issues related to this number.
The number 800-746-2936 is associated with Ocwen, a mortgage service company, we have been dealing with them since 2012, and our experience with them have been neutral until now, they seem to be inert.
Its pretty funny that somone who works in collections is themself in collection, and thats a big irony!
Repeated calls to my mother from Ocwen are unwarranted, given she has no association with them, and their persistent nature is troubling.
Following a similar experience, a complaint was filed with the Federal Reserve, which directed the issue to the consumer protection bureau for investigation, resulting in Ocwen resolving the account issues and reinstating monthly payment vouchers.
The frequency of calls from this caller is excessive, occurring 5-6 times daily, including weekends, and they demand sensitive personal information without disclosing the purpose of the call, which is extremely infuriating.
To avoid unwanted calls, consider using a call blocker and exercising caution when answering unfamiliar numbers.
These individuals persist in contacting my residence at the beginning of each month, regardless of our payment schedule or status, and even continue to call after receiving payment, which I consider harassment and may seek legal counsel to address.
