We're constantly harassed by these people demanding our SS#, despite being timely with our payments and not being informed that our mortgage was sold to them until after the fact.
Ocwen debt collector calls – how to protect yourself!
Summary — +18007462936
Expert Opinion
Recent analysis indicates a pattern of frequent calls from a mortgage servicer identified as Ocwen. Callers often claim to be collecting on a mortgage or offering loan assistance, and many callers speak with strong foreign accents, which can make verification harder. Recipients should confirm the caller’s identity by asking for a written notice, check the account status on the lender’s official website, and never share Social Security numbers or banking details over the phone. If the call is unwanted, add the number to your Do Not Call list, use call‑blocking tools, and report persistent harassment to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau or your state attorney general.

After my loan was purchased, I started receiving incomprehensible messages and calls with no voicemail; when I try to call back, the line rings and then goes to static. Dealing with this group has been an unprofessional experience. Despite changing our home number without notifying them, they somehow obtained it, and now they constantly call my 90-year-old mother. I frequently update the do not call register, as we seem to be removed from the list in under two weeks. It's concerning that our country relies heavily on foreign interactions when handling our financial and credit matters. It would be beneficial to speak directly with Americans regarding our financial concerns. Furthermore, being prompted to choose a language is inconvenient. The reports from this company have been inconsistent, and their calls and letters often cross paths; my loan is actually within the grace period and not overdue.

The number 800-746-2936 is associated with Ocwen, a mortgage company based in India, with which I am currently dealing regarding a 'Short Sale' transaction. It's peculiar that they are soliciting you, and I suspect that they may be attempting to refinance your mortgage.
When i called back, they acknowleged recieving my mortgage payment, but i didnt need to call, since i get the reciept via email, and subsequent statments reflect it, so thats just harassment.
I strongly believe that the calls from Ocwen are not legitimate, but rather a scam, given my past experiences with American Home Mortgage and Homeward Residential, which were later taken over by Ocwen, resulting in a plethora of issues.
