Expert Opinion
Block the number immediately if you suspect a fraudulent Wells Fargo call. Spoofed caller IDs are common, and scammers often claim to be from a bank’s fraud department to harvest personal data. Never share account numbers, passwords, or card details over the phone; instead hang up and call the official bank number listed on your statement or website. Use your phone’s built‑in call‑blocking features or a trusted third‑party app to reduce repeat attempts. Report the incident to the FTC and your actual financial institution so they can flag the scam and protect other customers. Staying skeptical and verifying sources are the best defenses against fraud.
