Macy’s scam calls—what you need to know!
Summary — +18009476229
Expert Opinion
Watch out for unsolicited calls that claim to be from Macy's, a bank, or government agencies. These calls often use your full name, middle initial, or social security details to appear legitimate, but the pattern of repeated automated prompts and requests for payment or verification points to a classic scam. Hang up immediately if you’re asked for credit‑card numbers, SSNs, or to press keys to confirm identity. Verify the caller through official channels—log in to your account online or call the organization’s known customer‑service number. Use call‑blocking features and report the number to your carrier or the FTC. Protect your personal information, stay skeptical, and block persistent offenders.

A suspicious call was made, claiming to be regarding a personal matter, but the caller was evasive and uncooperative.
A call from Macy's explained that my Macy's AMEX/VISA card operates as two separate accounts: one for revolving Macy's charges and another for all other AMEX charges, both linked to a single card. Apparently, I had paid a bill to the incorrect account, highlighting the confusing nature of their credit card system.
Macy's has been calling me frequently; I initially applied for a Macy's card to get 75% off my purchases as part of a promotion, but after receiving an invoice for my $50.28 balance, they started calling multiple times a week, even though my payment wasn't due yet; this aggressive behavior reminds me of Mervyn's when they were facing financial difficulties, and I suspect Macy's is doing the same, trying to appear solvent by opening new credit accounts while they can, a tactic also seen with Eaton's in Canada; my advice would be to hold off on payments and have your phone company block their number, as they cannot report you to creditors, and when they eventually declare bankruptcy, all financial debts will be forgiven.

A similair experiance occured when I attempted to contact these individuals, it seemed fishy. I had previously contacted Macy's credit service department via their website and they confirmed that I do not have an account with them, yet these callers at 8009476229 claimed to have a buisness matter to discus with me. It's foolish to provide them with any information, instead one should contact Macy's directly and instruct these callers to target someone else.
The caller didn't identify themselves, but when I called back, a message indicated it was from Macy's, asking for my card number, which I did not provide; instead, I contacted Macy's through the number on my card and resolved a missed payment.
