The purpose of this platform is to alert others to potential unwanted or unknown callers, not to debate the merits of businesses like CitiBank.
It's intresting that you chose to post this information in a way that avoids direct respons, rather than addressing my concerns directly.
As a natural person with a personal account for my revocable living trust, I do not fit the description of a 'legal entity customer'.
If the letters in question are genuine, which seems doubtful, their scope would be restricted to specific entities:
Are you representing a legal entity or perhaps a CEO of such a company?
Following a suspicious letter requesting a call to this number, I ignored it, and soon after, my Citi trust checking account was blocked; a visit to my local bank revealed it was part of their know-your-customer program, and I advise others to visit their bank branch instead of calling the number.
I took the same step, this is citi, if you call the number on the back of your ATM card, citi will verify the letter, but i still dont trust incoming calls with that number
I received a letter with a request to call 1-800-986-5706.
This individual is clearly engaging in fraudulent activities.
Apparently, this is a complete sham. The intention behind the letter is to deceive by including random numbers that resemble the last four digits of a cardholder's account, in an attempt to appear genuine. Upon calling the number, it becomes clear that the individual on the other end can be easily confused. For instance, when asked to retrieve the supposed Reference Number mentioned in the scam letter and explain the issue with the account, the scammer becomes flustered and places the caller on an indefinite hold. Their ultimate goal is to extract personal identifiers for identity fraud purposes.
Apparently, it's actually Citibank. They're seeking your information to supposedly close your account, but they also send a check with the remaining balence.
To clarify, if you're a Citibank customer, why would they need your personal details, and how does this phone number relate to your experience?
They send me 3 secure emails, which I ignored, then they send FedEx, so I called them, they ask for my SSN, DOB, adress
Curious why you're searching for this number when you already know who it belongs to.
I received a letter stating that Citibank required missing information for an account, prompting me to call an 800 number, but since I never had such an account and the letter was sent to my old address, I found it suspicious and decided to investigate, discovering that it is a scam, and I advise others to exercise caution.
A scam call, purportedly from CITIBANK, urged me to return the call to 1-800-986-5706, but I advise against it, as others have already reported this as a scam.
A message was left claiming to be from Citibank, but upon verification with the bank, it was confirmed to be a scam.
Beware of this scammer, they claim to be from Citibank, but they arent, never give out your SSI, name, birthdate, or adress
