Scam callers posing as Discover: quick defense tips

Expert Opinion
Imagine getting a call every few hours from a number that claims to be your credit‑card issuer, yet you never asked for it. The pattern you’re describing matches a classic phone‑scam that hijacks the brand name of a major bank to pressure consumers into revealing personal data or paying nonexistent fees. Because the calls often drop or leave no voicemail, the goal is simply to get you to answer and hand over information. The safest steps are: add the number to your block list, report it to the FTC and your carrier, and contact the real card issuer using the number on the back of your card to confirm any outstanding balances. Never share account details or click links from unsolicited callers.
