Expert Opinion
Never trust a cold call claiming legal action—verify independently before you reply. These inbound numbers often masquerade as law firms or debt collectors, using aggressive scripts and asking for personal data like Social Security numbers. Hang up if the caller becomes hostile, record the number, and run a quick lookup on FTC’s Do Not Call registry. Never provide payment info or sign any documents without confirming the agency’s credentials through official channels. Report the incident to your carrier and the Federal Trade Commission to help stop the spread. Stay skeptical, protect your identity, and keep records of any suspicious interaction.
