Both a text message and an email were received, urging enrollment in Google Pay and providing a callback number, but this appears to be unrelated to the actual service, and thankfully, further investigation revealed it was not an isolated incident.
Scam warning: bogus Google Pay enrollment messages
Summary — +18332577160
Expert Opinion
Recent complaints highlight a wave of phishing texts claiming to be from Chime about Google Pay enrollments. Recipients are urged to verify any request through the official Chime website or mobile app before interacting. Do not call the number in the message; instead use the customer‑service line listed on Chime’s contact page. Change passwords immediately if you suspect exposure, and enable two‑factor authentication where available. Report the suspicious number to your carrier and to Chime’s fraud department. Blocking the sender can reduce further attempts, and educating friends and family about the phishing pattern helps curb its spread. Always treat unsolicited financial alerts with caution.
