FedEx Ground address‑verification scam – how to stay safe!

Expert Opinion
Bottom line: calls from +1‑833‑372‑5815 most often masquerade as FedEx Ground address‑verification requests and are designed to harvest personal details. While a handful of users report legitimate experiences, the preponderance of reports describe scammers using reference numbers, late‑night calls, and heavy accents to pressure recipients. Protect yourself by never sharing your full address or ID over the phone, especially if the call arrives outside normal business hours. Verify any claim by contacting FedEx directly using the official number on their website, and record the reference code for your own records. Treat unsolicited verification requests with skepticism and consider blocking the number.

Upon receiving a call from this number, I was presented with a suspicious claim that they were from Fedex Ground, possessed my personal details, and were experiencing difficulties with a package delivery due to an incorrect address, providing me with Case Number 5287827; however, my iPhone had already flagged the caller as a potential scam, and the voicemail message further raised suspicions by mentioning their operating hours in my local time, which seemed inconsistent with their alleged lack of knowledge about my address, leading me to verify the case number with FedEx customer service, who confirmed it was too short to be legitimate, thus solidifying my conclusion that this is indeed a scam.
