Expert Opinion
This is a classic scam. The caller, who identifies herself as "Christine" from National Disability, leaves voicemails urging you to call back regarding a supposed application for Social Security Disability benefits. Despite the sweet and helpful tone, these calls are phishing attempts to gather personal information. If you haven't applied for such benefits, these calls are definitely fraudulent. The scammer uses various local numbers to make the calls seem more legitimate but always provides the same toll-free number, 844-690-8191. If you receive these calls, do not engage or provide any personal information. Block the numbers and report them to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to help stop these scams. Stay vigilant and protect your identity.
