Receiving a text inquiring about my sister, who passed away in 2012, was a shocking experience. What's appalling is the scammer's attempt to connect me with a Carol Synder, exploiting my eagerness to respond. It's outrageous that they'd claim to have pending matters from 11 years ago.
I received the same text message as others, claiming to be from the Mediation Department and stating that I needed to contact them urgently. When I called the number provided, I was put on hold for an extended period before being told that I owed a significant amount of money and that they would be putting a lien on my bank account. I disputed this claim, and the caller eventually hung up on me. Later, they called my husband and made the same claims about me, but he started asking questions, and the caller hung up on him as well.
