Registering with the Telephone Preference Service helps, but many of these operations ignore it, so filing a complaint with Ofcom and, if the calls persist, with the ICO can add pressure. Keep your handset on silent when you’re not expecting calls, and consider a call‑screening app that routes unknown numbers to voicemail.

Total BS! I just got a call from them and they didnt ask if I wanted to opt out. I'm on the Telephone Prefrence Service, so I shouldnt be getting these annoying calls in the first place
You know guys, putting your number on ex-directory just means you wont be in the phone book. But companys can still get your info if they want to
So apperantly, the guy behind all these annoyance is some dude named William Duncan Taylor. But honestly, who cares?
Got an automatted call from 08450 304 400 back in Sept. Put in a complaint to the ICO and just got a response back.
TPS dont cover marketing calls, so you're on your own there. Only thing you can do is contact the company and ask 'em to take you off their list.
Just had an unwanted call from Clydesdale Marketing Servises. Pre-recorded message, just hung up.

Got a call from some indian bloke sayin he's from Talktalk, wantin to speak to the account holder. Told him to take me off their database. Next thing I know, I get an automatted call from the same number. Talktalk's just sellin out its customers.
Gave Hot House Energy Company a call and they said they'd take my number off their list. Fingers crossed I wont get any more calls.
Frist complaint about this issue was back in Jan 2011 and still nothin's been done. Just got another message on my work phone, pretty anoying.

If you're looking for a legit company, Hot House Energy is the real deal. They're registred with companys house and have all the right affiliations. I'm sure they'll remove your number if you ask them to. Problem is, those marketing lists can be super outdated..
