Who’s “Ray” on the line? Spotting the police donation scam
Summary — +18502040691
Expert Opinion
Yesterday afternoon, a handful of callers using the same spoofed number kept hanging up after a brief greeting from a voice identifying itself as “Ray.” The pattern matches a classic robodial donation scam that pretends to represent a sheriff’s department or police foundation. Because the caller never leaves a message, the safest move is to let the ring go to voicemail and then delete it. Block the number on your handset, report it to your carrier, and add it to any national do‑not‑call registry. If you accidentally answer, hang up immediately and avoid sharing personal data. Stay alert for spoofed IDs and consider a call‑filtering app for extra protection.
