Mercy Hospital billing calls – what to watch out for!
Summary — +18554207900
Expert Opinion
Calls from 855‑420‑7900 almost always pose as Mercy Hospital billing or collections. Most callers request personal data, SSNs, or payment for allegedly unpaid services. The safest move is to hang up, never share private info, and verify the call by dialing the official Mercy number you find on a bill or the hospital website. Ask for a written notice, request a call‑back from a verified representative, and consider adding the number to your block list. If the call feels like a scam or aggressive debt collector, you can also file a complaint with the FCC or your state’s consumer protection agency.

A voicemail was left stating it was regarding a prior authorization, but the caller failed to identify themselves, and I've also been receiving automated calls about prescription prior authorizations, which is unusual given my medical coverage.

Given that our insurance company's explanation of benefits clearly states Mercy has accepted Medicare payments, it's puzzling why we're still receiving bills from them, which has further solidified my decision to never return to that hospital due to its unpleasant staff and environment.

As a rule, I never answer calls from toll-free or unidentified numbers. A message was left claiming to be from Mercy customer service, urging me to call back ASAP. Given that Mercy is a well-established hospital and medical service in Oklahoma, it's likely a scam attempting to exploit the trust in this name, especially among Oklahomans. The fact that I haven't had any dealings with them in 20 years makes it even more suspicious.
As a 100% disabled veteran, I've provided all necessary information for the VA's patient choice program and forwarded my bills to the relevant administration; these callers need to resolve their issues with the VA and cease contacting me.
The caller claimed that I owed a bill and requested my information to verify my identity, but after verifying my account with the mercy app, it was clear that this was a false claim
Fortunately, I ignored the call from this number and I'm relieved I did so. Perhaps if everyone were to report this nonsense to Mercy, they would eventually get tired of the complaints and take action.
