Scam or legit? Decoding PayPal debt collector calls

Expert Opinion
If you keep getting calls from 866‑437‑2914 it’s almost always about a PayPal credit card or a similar PayPal‑linked account. The callers claim you owe a payment and will try to collect banking info over the phone. Never hand over your bank routing, account number, or Social Security digits to anyone who calls unsolicited. Hang up, look up the official PayPal or Synchrony Bank contact on the back of your card or on the official website, and verify any balance yourself. You can also block the number, report it to the FTC, and consider a call‑blocking app if the calls persist.
