Initially, we thought this was a scam, but after saving the check and discussing it for a few days, my husband recalled a colonoscopy he had at a CHI facility in another city in 2016, and upon contacting their accounting department, they confirmed that we were indeed due for a refund, which will be deposited into our account soon, and the check stub did mention the name of a hospital, although it didn't specify the city.

Rest assured, this is not a scam; an attachment accompanying your check will contain your name and a description of the overpayment, and you can verify this with the relevant company or hospital, which will inform you whether you should have received the check and the amount it was for; please refrain from discarding it, as it is your rightful money.

I received another check from CHI, which I won't be cashing, just like the previous one. It's suspicious that they're sending checks to people with whom they have no prior business. I'm concerned about how they obtained my information and am frustrated with these scammers.
