Scam alert: Why that Progressive‑style call is a red flag

Scam call claiming to be from the IRS, demanding immediate payment. Reported it.

A call was received from a person claiming to be from Progressive, but they hung up immediately, indicating a potential scam.

This scam, which references Walgreens, continues to be a concern, especially given the access to personal information tied to my phone number.

After recieving this call, I contacted Progressive and they confirmed it was a scam, so be aware

I recieved a voicemail from a persin claims to be from progressive with a message code to hear about my policy, but its probabbly a scam since the number is not on my id cards

Following multiple calls from this number with messages claiming to be from Progressive, I contacted the official Progressive customer service number, where they confirmed the calls were indeed a scam and took steps to report the incident

Apparently, this numbe is suposed to be from Progressive, they said i might have another drivers licens from another state, wich is posible since i moved about 8 years ago, so i was promted to press 1 to talk to a representive, but i decied to hang up and call them back direclty

Scammer asked for my social security number under the guise of a background check. Blocked the number.

After verifying with Progressive, it's clear that this is a scam, as they don't cold call for information and would send an email or letter instead

Today, i recieved two calls from this number, wich asked me to press 1 if it was me and 2 if it wasnt, but since i have ben with Progressive for 11 years, i know they dont use this kind of contact method, so i hung up and contacted the number on the Progressive contact page instead

The caller didnt leave a message on either of the two occassions they calld, so I decidied to investigae further by contacting the actual Progressive customer support, where a represntative asured me that every thing was fine and there was no reason for them to contact me, clearly indicating that the call was spam.

Caution is advised as this number is impersonating Progressive, a fact verified by contacting Progressive directly.

A recorded message from a supposed representative of Progressive Insurance Company was left on my cell phone, addressing me by my full name, including my middle initial. The message instructed me to call a specific number and enter a code, but when I contacted Progressive directly, they confirmed it was a scam.
