Scam alert: Why that Progressive‑style call is a red flag
Summary — +18668404246
Expert Opinion
Unexpectedly, the number 866‑840‑4246 keeps appearing as a Progressive‑branded caller asking for driver’s license details. Most callers report a robotic intro, a claim that an out‑of‑state license is on file, and a request for birthdate or SSN‑last‑four. Progressive itself states it never asks for personal data via unsolicited calls, and verified customers confirm no record of outbound outreach. Key red flags include pressure to verify, lack of a policy number, and a voicemail that provides a “message code.” If you receive this call, hang up, log in to your account or call the official Progressive number to confirm any request.
