Vacation rental check scam – what to watch out for!
Summary — +18727630519
Expert Opinion
Late last week, homeowners reported a flurry of calls from +18727630519 promising rental deals and asking for upfront security deposits via mailed checks. The pattern matches a classic vacation‑rental check scam: a fake lease, a request for a cashier’s check, and a push to ship the payment quickly. Never send money or personal banking details until you’ve verified the renter through the official platform’s messaging system and reviewed their identity documents. If a caller pressures you for a check, hang up, block the number, and flag the profile to Airbnb, VRBO, or HomeAway. Report the number to the FTC and your local consumer‑protection agency.

Despite beeing aware of this scam, I decided to play along and asked him to send a bogus check to a neutral adress, where I could posible collect it if it arived. He ended up spending his money on USPS next day shipping and tracking, and now I have a keeepsake check made out to "Adik and Iama Sphinkstier".
