The prompt told me to "Press 1 to hear the message from TD, Press 2 to decline"; I chose 1, heard the same recording, tried 1 again, and the loop repeated, so I hung up unsure if it was a scam or if anything happened when I pressed 1. Any guidance would help.

Expert Opinion
Watch out for unsolicited calls that claim to be TD Bank. Most callers use automated dialing and vague scripts that sound official, but they rarely leave a clear message or verify your identity. Hang up if the person asks for personal info, presses keys without explaining the purpose, or pressures you to act immediately. Report the number to your carrier’s spam‑blocking service and file a complaint with the Canadian Anti‑Fraud Centre. Consider adding the number to your phone’s block list and enable any available robocalls filter. Never share banking details over the phone unless you initiated the call on a verified number, and use the bank’s secure portal to manage opt‑out preferences for marketing outreach.
