Expert Opinion
Watch for red flags when a mysterious caller claims a legal complaint and pressures you to call a toll‑free number. These messages usually feature a fabricated case number, a fake process‑server or attorney, and urgent language designed to spark panic. Never share personal or financial details before verifying the claim with the actual court or the alleged firm. Hang up, look up the official contact information for the court, and report the call to the FTC or your state consumer protection agency. Keeping a record of the voicemail and the caller’s name can help investigators track the scam network.
