Toll‑free telemarketing from Merrill Edge – should you answer?

After conducting a Google search, I discovered that this number belongs to a company I trust and have a business relationship with.

After receiving an email prompting me to call this number, I opted to update my information through the official website instead, due to initial apprehensions.

Following reveiwing 800 notes, i noticed i recieved a call and do not answer unkowns, i have a merril lynch acct but dont want to talk to them and dont want to be bothered by them either -- so i blocked the number -- thanks 800 notes for the info!

Although I have a Merrill Lynch account, I am not interested in their calls or discussing anything with them at this time.

Unlike typical cold calls, this number only contacts when significant actions are taken, such as opening a new account or transferring funds, and although their intentions may be helpful, the timing is often unnecessary, as the issues are already being handled.

I think this callback number is from a real agent

As of May 26, 2016, this number has been confirmed to be a valid contact for Merrill Lynch, as I have been transferring accounts to them and the representative uses this caller ID.

After replaying the message multiple times, the phone number was finally deciphered, allowing for a lookup, and it appears to be related to a Merrill account.

The caller identification displayed '800 SERVICE', but the message left claimed to be from a Merrill Edge account relationship manager, which was supposedly transferred from Bank of America after BAC acquired Merrill; for me to answer future calls, they should update their caller identification.

The caller ID should ideally display 'Merrill', but instead, it shows 'toll free'; upon answering, there was no one on the line.
