Expert Opinion
Like a persistent mosquito buzzing at night, these calls hover around your phone, demanding payment for debts that often don’t exist. Callers masquerade as investigators or attorneys, throw around legal jargon, and threaten arrest warrants to create urgency. The pattern of vague case numbers, misspelled company names, and pressure to use prepaid cards points to a classic debt‑collector scam. Hang up immediately, block the number, and never share personal or banking details. Document the call, report it to the FTC and your state’s consumer protection agency, and consider a call‑blocking service. Staying calm and verifying any claim through official channels can stop the cycle.
