Structured Settlement scam calls – what to do

Receiving repeated calls about structured settlements from various numbers within our area code, despite not having any debts, is clearly a scam, especially since they claim prior contact that never happened.

It is essential not to make any payments, as this is not a legitimate check fraud case, but rather an attempt at extortion, which can be countered by insisting that the perpetrators follow the law.

Facing financial hardship due to my husband's abandonment, I'm dealing with a 'structured settlement' company that threatens prosecution over a defaulted payday loan, despite my offer to make smaller payments.

I got a call from someone claiming to be John King, from structured settlement, saying they had audited my file due to a bounced check, but I dont recall writting any checks, and my bank didnt notify me about any bounced checks, it sounds like a scam to me

The caller claimed there was a court case pending against me, offering to drop the charges if I responded, which seems like a classic extortion tactic.

I recived the same message on my cell phone, but i dont intend to return the call, especally since the indivijual didnt even bother to state his name or the purpos of the call.

The individual claimed to have the authority to render a verdict, which is a power typically reserved for judges, not debt collectors

The caller claimed to be from Structure or Structured Settlement, leaving a message stating I had a previous conversation with someone in the office, and my account was red flagged, offering me a chance to make a statement before a verdict was rendered, all while claiming to be short on time.

I got a call and a message at work about a bounced check, which is incorrect as I rarely write checks and have never had one bounce.
